Volleyball Recap: Caylee Collins Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Carrizo Springs

It was a proper cat-fight when Refugio duked it out with Carrizo Springs on Thursday. The Bobcats walked away with a 2-0 win over the Wildcats. The Bobcats were shut out 2-0 the last time they took on the Wildcats, so the Bobcats were just returning the favor.

While Refugio won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 29-27, 25-18.

Refugio's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caylee Collins, who had six digs and six aces. That's the most aces Collins has posted since back in August of 2024. Ja'Zae-Lynne Lewis was another key player, getting 12 digs, five kills, and two aces.

They weren't the only good server: Refugio was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

Refugio's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-4. As for Carrizo Springs, they dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Coincidentally, Refugio and Carrizo Springs will both be playing King the next time they take the court. The Bobcats will head out to face the Brahmas at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, while the Wildcats will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
