Eastbrook is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Thursday. They will be playing at home against the Madison-Grant Argylls at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Eastbrook's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Northfield as they made off with a 13-0 victory.
Carter Daugherty was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Eastbrook let Will Hodson and Reid Aupperle run wild. Hodson went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Aupperle got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those five RBI gave Hodson a new career-high. Ryder Gipson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Eastbrook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Madison-Grant waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Eagles.
Xavier Yeagy made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Levi Nelson and Luke Gilman did most of the damage at the plate: Nelson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Gilman went 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. Nelson has become a key player for Madison-Grant: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Tripp Haisley, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Eastbrook now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Madison-Grant, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Eastbrook has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. However, it's not like Madison-Grant struggles in that department as they've averaged .506. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
