Softball Recap: Archie Has No Trouble Against Kingsville

Archie made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Kingsville, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Whirlwinds blew past the Tigers 14-4 on Wednesday. For the Whirlwinds, this counts as revenge for the 12-2 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Kyleigh Wilson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Archie got a massive performance out of Morgan Mattingley, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave Mattingley a new career-high. Shelby Newport was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Archie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingsville only posted a batting average of .318.

The win got Archie back to even at 1-1. As for Kingsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Archie has already played their next match, a 12-2 loss against Stockton on the 28th. As for Kingsville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 defeat against Northwest on the 28th.
