Softball Recap: Sparks Comes Up Short

If Sparks was riding high fresh off their 16-2 takedown of Truckee on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Railroaders lost 19-9 to the Wolverines on Wednesday. The Railroaders were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wolverines earlier this season, when they won 16-2.

Liliana Pimentel Espana made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Ellise Henderson was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The loss snapped Sparks' winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-11 record. As for Truckee, they moved to 7-15 with that victory, which also ended their seven-game losing streak.

Sparks does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Truckee, they will challenge Gridley at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight.
