Softball Preview: Grant County Braves vs. Cooper Jaguars

The Grant County Braves will head out on the road to challenge the Cooper Jaguars at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grant County will be strutting in after a win while Cooper will be coming in after a loss.

Grant County not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 4, 2024. They blew past Walton-Verona 9-3. The Braves' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Meanwhile, Cooper fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Notre Dame Academy on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Pandas by a score of 3-2. The Jaguars just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Lily Spraker was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

On the hitting side, Cooper saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kinley (KJ) Johnson, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
