Baseball Recap: Northern Durham's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Northern Durham came out on top against Vance Charter on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. Northern Durham blew past Vance Charter 12-3. Considering Northern Durham has won six games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

J.P. Rodio made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times he's played.

In other batting news, Dylan Guerrette was excellent, going 3-for-5 with three RBI. J.D. Williams was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Northern Durham was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

The win snapped Northern Durham's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-10 record. As for Vance Charter, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-8.

Northern Durham didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-3 victory against Riverside-Durham on the 29th. As for Vance Charter, they have also already played their next game, an 11-2 win against Eno River Academy on the 29th.
