Volleyball Recap: Meridian Falls Short Against Ranked Rigby

Meridian faced Rigby in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Warriors came up short against the Trojans, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Warriors have suffered since October 19, 2024.

Meridian was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-15, 25-21.

Breleigh Youngstrom was a one-woman wrecking crew For Rigby. as she had 20 digs and four aces. That's the most digs Youngstrom has posted since back in October of 2024.

Meridian moved to 6-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Rigby, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Meridian will venture away from home to square off against Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rigby, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will face off against Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
