Basketball Recap: Clovis East Victorious

Clovis East hadn't done well against Clovis West recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Clovis East Timberwolves pulled ahead with a 54-53 photo finish over the Clovis West Golden Eagles. This was a revenge game for the Timberwolves: when they faced off against the Golden Eagles back in January, they had to take a 66-41 loss.

Clovis West's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dj Stickman, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards. Stickman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Michael Espinoza was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Clovis East's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 17-8. As for Clovis West, their loss dropped their record down to 11-15.

As for Clovis West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Buchanan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
