Basketball Recap: Eureka Skates Past Laytonville with Ease

Eureka posted their biggest victory since December 14, 2023 on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Laytonville Warriors 70-19. Given the Loggers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Warriors are ranked 1231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Eureka found their leader in sophomore Xavier De La Rosa, who posted 18 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points De La Rosa has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eddie Gonzalez, who had 11 points.

Eureka was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2023.

The win made it two in a row for Eureka and bumps their season record up to 6-1. As for Laytonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Eureka and Coquille will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. As for Laytonville, they and Shasta will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
