Baseball Recap: South River Wins Going Away Against Bowie

South River had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 8-4 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Bowie Bulldogs 14-1. The result was nothing new for the Seahawks, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Parker Box spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Deshawn Branch, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Nolan Hooker, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

South River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bowie only posted an OBP of .222.

Having lost for the first time this season, Bowie fell to 10-1. The match marked their lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

On Bowie's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Brown, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run.

South River wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 21-1 win against Douglass on the 17th. As for Bowie, they have also already played their next matchup, a 9-0 victory against Flowers on the 22nd.
