Softball Recap: Port Allen Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Port Allen's offense. They came up short against the Central Lafourche Trojans on Saturday, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 24 runs in the game before, the Pelicans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Port Allen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jerrica Cooper, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Cooper's first of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Port Allen and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Central Lafourche, the win was the fifth in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Port Allen will host False River at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Port Allen is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 17.2 runs per game this season. As for Central Lafourche, they will welcome St. Martin's Episcopal at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Lafourche knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully St. Martin's Episcopal likes a good challenge.
