Basketball Recap: North Buncombe Comes Up Short

If North Buncombe was riding high fresh off their 78-10 takedown of Owen two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Black Hawks fell 61-55 to the Pisgah Bears on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Black Hawks in their meetings with the Bears: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the loss, North Buncombe still got an impressive performance from Aubrey Gilliland, who went 9-for-16 to rack up 18 points along with seven assists and three steals. Gilliland has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Metcalf, who posted nine points.

North Buncombe's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Pisgah, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
