Basketball Game Preview: Eastern Greene Thunderbirds vs. Dugger Union Bulldogs

The Eastern Greene Thunderbirds will head out on the road to take on the Dugger Union Bulldogs at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Eastern Greene came up short against Loogootee on Thursday, falling 50-28. The Thunderbirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Dugger Union and Lighthouse Christian Academy, and Lighthouse Christian Academy kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs lost 69-49 to the Lions on Thursday. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-22.

Eastern Greene will have to contain Bella Gallion as she made an impact in Dugger Union's last game. She shot 55% from the field on her way to 24 points. Abigail Shepler was another key player, putting up ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Dugger Union's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Eastern Greene, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Eastern Greene took their victory against Dugger Union in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 58-37 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderbirds since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
