Preview: Locust Fork Hornets vs. Marion Rams
Locust Fork is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Marion is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Locust Fork Hornets will take on the Marion Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Locust Fork knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Marion likes a good challenge.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Locust Fork walked away with it. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Cougars 85-57 at home. Locust Fork has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 contests by 20 points or more this season.
Levi White and Jalon Boatright were among the main playmakers for Locust Fork as the former scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks and the latter dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points White has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Titus White, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Marion was able to grind out a solid win over Cornerstone on Saturday, taking the game 52-42. Given Marion's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Cornerstone is ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Locust Fork's victory bumped their record up to 20-6. As for Marion, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 18-9 record this season.
