El Segundo came out on top against Long Beach Poly on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Jackrabbits 7-5. The Eagles' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
El Segundo gave Jordan Slavens the start and clearly made the right call: he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
