Football Recap: Christopher Farris and Szion Jefferson Pace KIPP Collegiate Defense

KIPP Collegiate blew Middleton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Middleton got their revenge. The phoenix fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 28-26. The phoenix's loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Despite the loss, KIPP Collegiate still got an impressive performance from Kevin Garnett, who rushed for 201 yards and two scores on only 15 carries, and also threw for 74 yards and one touchdown on only seven passes. The phoenix are 2-1 when Garnett posts two or more rushing touchdowns, but 1-5 otherwise.

KIPP Collegiate didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Christopher Farris and Szion Jefferson. KIPP Collegiate got some further help from Jadyen Marr: he picked up three sacks and made 18 total tackles.

KIPP Collegiate's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Middleton, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.

KIPP Collegiate will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Westwood at 7:00 p.m. As for Middleton, they will square off against Oakhaven at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' defense better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 30.2 points per game this season.
