Softball Recap: Leyden Takes a Loss

Leyden lost against Addison Trail on May 5th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Eagles fell 4-1 to the Blazers. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Arianna Gallo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Leyden's loss dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Addison Trail, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leyden will take on Willowbrook at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Addison Trail, they will face off against Maine South at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Blazers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
