Baseball Recap: West Rusk Comes Up Short

West Rusk and Edgewood squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but West Rusk had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-3. The Raiders were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in March of 2022.

Kullin Tavarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, West Rusk saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jason Reasoner, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Another was Troy Hunley, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

West Rusk's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-14-1. As for Edgewood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-9 record this season.

While West Rusk had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
