Basketball Recap: Worthington Christian Warriors vs. Patriot Prep Academy Eagles
The Worthington Christian Warriors entered their tilt with the Patriot Prep Academy Eagles with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Worthington Christian blew past the Eagles 73-43 at home on Friday. Given Worthington Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Eagles are ranked 447th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Worthington Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sam Owusu Sarfo, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. Owusu Sarfo has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jonah Lewis, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dominic Sammons, who scored nine points along with six assists and six rebounds. Benjamin Williams was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Worthington Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Patriot Prep Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Worthington Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Lions at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. The timing isn't great for Bexley: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while the Warriors have snatched up five consecutive wins on the road. As for Patriot Prep Academy, they will take on the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
