Softball Recap: Platteville Comes Up Short

Platteville fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Lancaster on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Flying Arrows by a score of 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Kennedy Shea spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Platteville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lainee Pickel, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Platteville dropped their record down to 9-12 with the loss, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Lancaster, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 9-9 record.
