Basketball Recap: Upson-Lee Takes a Loss

Upson-Lee had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 15-13 to make it six. They were outmatched by the Sandy Creek Patriots and fell 69-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered since January 28th.

As for Sandy Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.1 points over those games.

Sandy Creek found their leader in sophomore Morghan Reckley, who shot 45% from the field on her way to 25 points in addition to eight boards and six steals. Reckley is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 17 or more in each of the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Reckley, who posted nine points and three steals.

Upson-Lee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 80-61 loss against Trinity Christian on the 20th. As for Sandy Creek, they have also already played their next game, a 65-44 victory against Troup County on the 20th.
