Baseball Game Preview: Menendez Falcons vs. Chiles Timberwolves

The Menendez Falcons will square off against the Chiles Timberwolves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Menendez will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

On Thursday, Menendez narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Covenant School of Jacksonville 2-1.

Brooks Taylor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up ten Ks. Those hits marked the first that he allowed this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lucas Drake, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Reeve Power, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Meanwhile, while Chiles put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Wakulla. Chiles blew past Wakulla 8-0. The victory continues a trend for the Timberwolves in their matchups with the War Eagles: they've now won eight in a row.

Colby Tadder was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Correa, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Menendez's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Chiles, their victory bumped their record up to 10-7.
