Southwest EC won the last time they faced Calipatria and Gabriel Gonzalez did his part to make sure it happened again. The Eagles walked away with a 53-44 win over the Hornets on Tuesday with plenty of help from Gonzalez, who shot 47% from the field en route to 19 points and five steals. He is becoming a predictor of Southwest EC's success: when he posts at least three steals the team is 4-1 (and 2-4 when he doesn't).

Another player making a difference was Brady Bermudez, who posted two points and eight rebounds. He also posted a block, marking his first of the season.

Southwest EC now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Calipatria, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Southwest EC wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 79-40 defeat against Mount Miguel on the 18th. As for Calipatria, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Holtville at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026.
