Baseball Recap: Owen Comes Up Short

Owen fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Mountain Heritage on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 7-6. The Warhorses were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Owen got a big performance out of Gabe Mahar, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Jackson Warnock was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Owen dropped their record down to 6-15 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 3.5 runs. As for Mountain Heritage, they moved to 3-16 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Owen wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 14-5 loss against Polk County on the 5th. Mountain Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
