Baseball Recap: Tornillo Takes a Loss

Tornillo had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 4-18 to make it four. They lost 18-4 to the Alpine Bucks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Coyotes have suffered against the Bucks since March 20, 2018.

As for Alpine, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Alpine's part, Ezra Lujan and Aj Llanez did most of the damage at the plate: Lujan went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles, while Llanez went 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave Llanez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Iden Lujan, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Tornillo does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Alpine, they will welcome Kermit at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bucks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
