Softball Game Preview: Seneca Bobcats vs. Sharpsville Blue Devils

The Seneca Bobcats will face off against the Sharpsville Blue Devils at 2:30 p.m. on Monday. Seneca's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Sharpsville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Seneca is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Iroquois get on the board and left with a 14-0 win two weeks ago. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sharpsville walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Greyhounds 9-7. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Greyhounds recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Sharpsville got a big performance out of Haley White, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most hits White has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Keeley Whitaker, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Sharpsville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Seneca, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1.

Seneca suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Sharpsville when the teams last played back in May of 2023. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
