Football Recap: Stephens County Indians vs. Callaway Cavaliers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Stephens County had no problem doing just that on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Callaway Cavaliers 35-33. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Javin Gordon was his usual excellent self, rushing for 103 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 71 receiving yards. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. Brock Tankersley was in the mix too, providing Stephens County with two touchdowns.

Stephens County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Tankersley and Gordon.

Stephens County's win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for Callaway, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-3.

Stephens County will take on Appling County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stephens County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 31.9 points per game this season. Callaway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
