Baseball Recap: Providence Christian Takes a Loss

Providence Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Houston Academy on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Houston Academy Raiders by a score of 5-4. The loss was the Eagles' first of the season.

Providence Christian saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Canady, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave Canady a new career-high. Another was David McClurkin, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Having lost for the first time this season, Providence Christian fell to 2-1. As for Houston Academy, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence Christian will head out to take on Auburn at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Houston Academy, they will hit the road for the first time this season to face off against New Brockton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Houston Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
