Baseball Recap: Pope John Paul II Comes Up Short

Pope John Paul II was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost 13-7 to the Friendship Christian Commanders. The Knights were not able to make up for their loss to the Commanders from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.

Nate Webb was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. That double was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Turner, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Pope John Paul II's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Friendship Christian, their win bumped their record up to 2-3.

Coming up, Pope John Paul II will be playing in front of their home fans against Brentwood Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pope John Paul II has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Friendship Christian, they will take on Lee-Scott Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Friendship Christian will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.
