Baseball Game Preview: Blair Bears vs. Elkhorn North Wolves

Blair hasn't had much luck against Elkhorn North recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Bears will host the Wolves at 4:30 p.m. Blair is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Blair was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They skirted past Gretna East 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bears have posted since April 26, 2025.

The team relied heavily on Colton Nixon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Blair was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Elkhorn North faced Gross Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Wolves never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.

Not much got past Jack Settles, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Gross Catholic off the board. Settles has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Keegan Driever was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Elkhorn North is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That somehow still isn't as good as their 17-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Blair, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
