Baseball Game Preview: Crestwood Comets vs. Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans

The Crestwood Comets will take on the Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.

The home team had won the previous five meetings between Crestwood and Wyoming Valley West, and Wyoming Valley West kept the tradition alive. The Comets fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 6-5 on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Greater Nanticoke Area had to endure a seven-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Hanover Area on Saturday.

The team relied heavily on Derek Shemanski, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Said Martinez was another key player, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Greater Nanticoke Area's win bumped their record up to 3-14. As for Crestwood, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Crestwood was able to grind out a solid victory over Greater Nanticoke Area when the teams last played back in April, winning 6-2. Do the Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
