Softball Recap: Tulia Comes Up Short

Tulia had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 12-5 to make it four. They lost 17-2 to the Bushland Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 19-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Tulia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyla Rodriguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Bushland, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.8 runs over those games.

On Bushland's side, Charlie Willis made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Willis a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, Hope DeWald was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Addison Appier was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Coming up, Tulia will welcome Childress at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Bushland, they will head out on the road to face off against River Road at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
