Basketball Recap: Gadsden City Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Destiny Whiteside and Naomi Wise

It was a good run, but Gadsden City unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Hartselle Tigers an easy 49-25 victory. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 123rd, while the Tigers are ranked 13th).

Naomi Wise and Destiny Whiteside certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Wise posted eight points and six rebounds, while Whiteside put up seven points.

Gadsden City's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Hartselle, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-2.

Gadsden City and Spring Garden will face off at 6:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Spring Garden knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Gadsden City likes a good challenge. As for Hartselle, they and Brewer will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Hartselle is facing Brewer at the right time seeing as Brewer is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
