Softball Recap: Fairfield Find Success

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Fairfield ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Westview Warriors 6-5. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Madison Jones made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 16 batters over nine innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Preslee Caouette, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Lilly Yoder, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

Fairfield's record now sits at 19-6. As for Westview, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Fairfield will venture away from home to take on West Noble at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons are facing the Chargers at the right time seeing as the Chargers are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Westview, they will head out to challenge Eastside at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
