Recap: Oakwood Eagles vs. Liberty Christian Academy Heat
This season hasn't been kind to the Oakwood Eagles, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They were beaten by Liberty Christian Academy 65-21 on Friday. Oakwood lost against Liberty Christian Academy in their previous head to head back in February of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 53-34 score last time.
Liberty Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Morton, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Morton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Luke Cavanuagh was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight rebounds and five steals.
Oakwood's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Liberty Christian Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakwood will challenge Kerr-Vance Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Kerr-Vance Academy has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 17. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Jones at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
