Softball Recap: Waterloo Gets the Win

While Waterloo's win against Cambridge wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pirates sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Bluejays on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Bluejays: they've now won four in a row.

Ally Schaumann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Callie Davison was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. Marissa Spoke was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Waterloo's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Cambridge, their defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waterloo will host Belleville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cambridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeside Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
