Basketball Recap: Spring Creek Gets the Win

Spring Creek won the last time they faced Hug and things went their way on Saturday too. The Spring Creek Spartans came out on top against the Hug Hawks by a score of 48-39.

When it comes to explaining why Hug lost, don't look at Cori Carrier. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Carrier also posted five blocks, which is notable because Hug is 5-2 when she posts at least three blocks, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Taliyah Henderson, who posted nine points along with five boards and three steals.

The victory got Spring Creek back to even at 8-8. As for Hug, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Spring Creek and Hug could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Nevada Rankings. Spring Creek (ranked 42nd) will meet Lowry (ranked eighth) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hug will square off against North Valleys at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 55 places (60 vs. 5).
