Softball Recap: Mission Hills Grizzlies vs. San Marcos Knights
While Mission Hills's win against San Marcos wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Grizzlies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over the Knights on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-1 two weeks ago.

Leah Llamas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with two RBI. Those five hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lillian Sengsouly was excellent, going 2-for-6 with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Kennedy Dimmick was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Mission Hills has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for San Marcos, they moved to 15-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mission Hills is set to take on their familiar foe Poway at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Grizzlies 3.8, the Titans 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, San Marcos will square off against rival Del Norte at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
