Softball Game Preview: Notre Dame Academy Tritons vs. Bay Port Pirates

The Notre Dame Academy Tritons will venture away from home to face off against the Bay Port Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Notre Dame Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Notre Dame Academy is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 21 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Green Bay Preble on Wednesday. They came up short against the Hornets, falling 14-2.

Notre Dame Academy saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Simpson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bay Port earned a 4-1 victory over Algoma on Thursday.

Payton Dudra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Plumley, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Bay Port now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Notre Dame Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Notre Dame Academy skirted past Bay Port 5-3 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tritons since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
