Baseball Recap: Monroe Township Takes a Loss

Monroe Township was the 6-4 winner over South Plainfield when they last played one another on Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Falcons fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Jake Lobue was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Marcus, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Monroe Township has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for South Plainfield, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Monroe Township wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-0 defeat against Old Bridge on the 18th. As for South Plainfield, they will take on Woodbridge at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Barrons will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
