Baseball Recap: Covington Wins Going Away Against Attica

Covington got themselves on the board against Attica on Tuesday, but Attica never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Red Ramblers with a sharp 11-0 victory. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Trojans yet this season.

Creux Rieman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Cian Moore was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. He also put up an RBI, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kaden Smith, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Covington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Covington's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Attica, their loss dropped their record down to 3-2-1.

Covington will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Red Ramblers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
