Baseball Recap: Cairo-Durham Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cairo-Durham ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Germantown Clippers 4-3. The Mustangs have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Clippers, too.

Logan Walz was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Cairo-Durham and bumps their season record up to 3-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-4 Germantown and 1-3 Greenville. As for Germantown, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Coming up, Cairo-Durham will head out to square off against Hudson at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Bluehawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Germantown, they will host Greenville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Clippers are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
