Baseball Game Preview: Winslow Township Eagles vs. Cherry Hill West Lions

Winslow Township hasn't had much luck against Cherry Hill West recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Lions at 3:45 p.m. Cherry Hill West took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Winslow Township, who comes in off a win.

Winslow Township's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Lindenwold with a sharp 10-0 win. The Eagles not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 15, 2024.

Johnathan Lawrence made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Lawrence was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, D'Angelo King was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Tristan Peou-Pang, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cherry Hill West's offense. They fell just short of Shawnee by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.

Winslow Township has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 8.0 runs this season. As for Cherry Hill West, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Winslow Township might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Cherry Hill West in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
