Volleyball Recap: Nevada Union Miners vs. Hilmar Yellowjackets
Nevada Union was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Hilmar Yellowjackets. The Miners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2019.
Nevada Union's offense was headlined by Ashley Thompson and Ziggi Zirpins, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Ashlyn Lampe and her eight assists. Thompson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
Hilmar can attribute much of their success to Lia Salvador, who had ten digs and one assist.
Nevada Union's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Hilmar, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.
Nevada Union has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Spanish Springs on the 29th. As for Hilmar, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against University Prep on the 29th.
