Basketball Recap: Asa Kohn's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hagerty over Oviedo

Hagerty lost against Oviedo back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Huskies fell 72-61 to the Lions. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Lions are ranked 64th).

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Asa Kohn, who shot 62% from the field on his way to 20 points. Kohn is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 20 or more in each of the last four games he's played. Jayden McCrae was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oviedo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Conner Collins, who went 7-for-9 en route to 22 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Collins now owns an excellent 48.6% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Dawson Jean Charles, who posted four points in addition to 12 blocks, seven steals, and five assists.

Hagerty has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season. As for Oviedo, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Hagerty and Harmony will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Huskies' defense better be ready for this one: the Longhorns have averaged an impressive 55 points per game this season. Oviedo will take on Osceola in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Carter Oden and Luke Mccrimon.
