Baseball Recap: Green Valley Takes Down Ranked Spring Valley

Green Valley faced Spring Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Gators came out on top against the Grizzlies by a score of 4-1. The win continues a trend for the Gators in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won five in a row.

Jeremiah Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jet McNelis was excellent, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jacob Ferry was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

Green Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Green Valley's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Spring Valley, they dropped their record down to 7-13-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Green Valley will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Grizzlies: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
