Baseball Game Preview: Kaufman Lions vs. Red Oak Hawks

The Kaufman Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Red Oak Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kaufman has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 1st.

Kaufman will face Red Oak after dropping another heartbreaker against Midlothian on Friday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within 2.1 of beating them. Kaufman fell 9-5 to Midlothian.

Kaufman got a good showing from Abraham Ramos, who struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Ramos has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Joshua Wofford was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February. Brody Burks also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Red Oak). They were the clear victors by a 19-0 margin over Trinity Leadership on Saturday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Hawks needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Kaufman's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10-1. As for Red Oak, their victory bumped their record up to 9-10.

Kaufman couldn't quite get it done against Red Oak in their previous meeting back in March of 2022 as they fell 4-0. Can Kaufman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
