Softball Recap: Battery Creek Comes Up Short

Bluffton hit Battery Creek with a nine-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dolphins lost 15-9 to the Bobcats. The Dolphins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 7-4.

Autumn Franks and AaLiyah ELMORE stepped up to the plate in a big way. Franks went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while ELMORE went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Franks is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Michelle Boyles, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Battery Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Bluffton, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-8.

Looking ahead, Battery Creek will look to defend their home field on Friday against Beaufort at 6:00 p.m. The Dolphins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. Bluffton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
