Basketball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Comes Up Short

St. Joseph Academy played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Old Plank Christian Academy Defenders 69-1. The Flashes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-0.

Leading Old Plank Christian Academy to victory were Mia Wilkins and Madison Baker. Wilkins went 11 of 14 on her way to 25 points and eight steals, while Baker went 8 of 15 on her way to 21 points and four steals. That's the most steals Baker has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenna Jiannuzzi, who posted five points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

St. Joseph Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Old Plank Christian Academy, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3.

St. Joseph Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Global Outreach Charter Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Old Plank Christian Academy, they will face off against City of Life Christian Academy at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
