Baseball Recap: Hightstown Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Hightstown is still undefeated this season after their match against Notre Dame on Tuesday, but Notre Dame came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Irish 3-1. The Rams have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Irish, too.

Dominick Terranova spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Hightstown saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Werden, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Werden a new career-high. Michael Guarino also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Hightstown pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average this season. As for Notre Dame, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Hightstown is headed away from home for the first time to face off against Montgomery at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Notre Dame, they will welcome Robbinsville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
